Client: Bond van Adverteerders Format: Flash website
Summary: This website was created to present the interactive advertising and research findings of the IDBC. The project has been put forward for a Spin Award and AMMA Award.
Role: Interaction & visual design, video editing & encoding, Flash/ActionScript 3.0 development
Summary: In the weeks leading up to Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob Marathon Weekend, viewers were able to vote for their favourite episodes by interacting during the daily broadcasts. While watching an episode of SpongeBob, the viewers rated each show using their remote controls. The votes were collected up and the top 100 shows broadcast during the SpongeBob Marathon Weekend.
The application has been overwhelmingly successful and received over 100,000 votes. It has also been entered for a Spin Award in the category Best Interactive Video Concept.
I’m delighted that 3VOOR12 Whitenoise has won a SpinAward in the category Best Interactive Video Concept for which I’m credited with Art Direction, Interaction Design and Technical Execution.
The application, which was developed in collaboration with VPRO and Do-tank, allows viewers to interact with the show by entering Flickr keywords which generate a stream of visuals which pulsate to the beat. The music is mixed each week by British techno DJ Dave Clarke.
The judges’ report (excuse my translation!) reads “A silver SpinAward goes to VPRO and Chellomedia for Whitenoise. Within the 3VOOR12 brand, VPRO and Chellomedia have pioneered development of interactive applications on digital television, and Whitenoise is the next step. The Whitenoise concept brings together television, interactivity and internet. Via the remote control, the user chooses search keywords from the popular internet site Flickr. The result goes further than polls or voting and the collaborative creation is a true innovation on television and is therefore worthy of a SpinAward.”

Sport1 Interactive has won this year’s “Best use of Interactive TV” NMA Effectiveness award. The award was announced at the NMA ceremony held in London on 28 June.
The judging panel was “impressed and amused by the service, which they found to feature good depth and breadth of content. They felt its success owed a lot to the smooth user experience and that it provided true interactivity.”

I’m delighted that Sport1 Interactive has been nominated for an International Emmy Award for “Outstanding Achievement in Interactive TV”. Other nominees include BBCi and Connect TV. The winner will be announced during the MIPTV Conference in Cannes.
